The suitcase
In 2004, in Senegal, a niche perfume arrived in a suitcase. Someone brought it back from Paris, folded into a shirt between two gifts. It was kept for a long time. People spoke of it quietly, the way one speaks of an address one does not share.
Akoussa was born that year, with a simple idea: that these bottles should no longer have to travel in the hold. That they should come another way. Its first trade was distribution: buying direct from the houses, or from their official distributors, and bringing them into Senegal.
No one in West Africa was doing it yet. Akoussa was the first.
